IN A PLURAL ENVIRONMENT
After the fall of the Roman Empire, various Germanic peoples came from Eastern Europe. Later on the Arabs did. On the other hand, Christianity was gradually expanding along the territory and, besides, the Romance languages began to emerge.
The linguistic and cultural diversity is the key characteristic of the Middle Ages. The Basque language was the main language and along with it there were several languages and cultures.
At the end of the Late Middle Ages, the gradual spread of the written word (in Latin or Romance) influenced the internal instability of the linguistic community.
